The Subconscious Mind

“Hi. I am……..

Actually I don’t have a name because I don’t need one. But sometimes people call me the narrator.

To be more specific I’m the one sitting next to you. Watching each and every action of yours and later telling you that whatever you did was actually ridiculous or coming up with new ideas for a more evolved action which you already performed.

Still didn’t get it?

That’s ok. You usually ignore my presence with you.

This story is about me and my friend. Well let me warn you in advance.

‘It’s a very long story.’

So you better finish all of your work and read this.

And yes don’t forget to take some eatables so that you don’t break the flow while reading this.

And the main question.

Who Am I?

You will find it.”

Few months earlier…………..

“Armaan Sharma?” Said the voice on the other side of the phone.

“Yes.” Armaan replied.

“It’s a call to remind you of your appointment with doctor Batra this Thursday.”

“Oh. Thank you for reminder. I’ll be there on time.” Said Armaan.

The same evening…………

“What happened bro?” asked Hardik.

“Hmm? Nothing. I’m all right.” Armaan said.

“Really? You look quite tensed. Are you hiding something?” Hardik asked.

“No buddy. Everything is good.” Armaan said.

“Really? I don’t think so. It’s been 15 minutes since our order arrived and the foodie is sitting like an old man suffering from constipation.”

“Hmm? Order? Oh. Sorry I forgot.” Armaan said picking up his burger.

“Where are you brother? Stop dreaming with open eyes and come to the reality.” Hardik said.

“I am.” Armaan said taking his bite.

“Would you like come for snooker?” Hardik asked.

“Mmmm, no. I have some work to do. So I think I should push off.” Armaan said.

“Ok. As you wish buddy. Take care.” Hardik said.

“But let’s finish this first.” Armaan said pointing towards the glass of mojitos.

“Ha ha. Yes.” Hardik said.

Armaan was sitting on his couch fiddling with his phone that suddenly something strange happened.

“Who are you fooling man?” came a voice from nowhere.

“Who…Who are you?” Armaan asked, terrified, searching for the source of the voice.

“Here” again came a voice and he saw someone sitting right next to him.
“Whoaaaa.” He jumped off. “Who the fuc…….” He stopped in the middle of his sentence giving a surprising look at the figure.

The person was none other than Armaan himself.

“Hi. I’m Armaan.” Said the person.

He didn’t respond, still surprised.

“Who……who are you?” He asked.

“I’m Armaan.” The person said.

“You don’t fuck me with man.” He said.

“Calm buddy. Ever heard of subconscious mind?” asked the person.

“Yes.” Armaan replied.

“I’m your subconscious mind.” The person said.

“Hmm?” Armaan gave it a puzzled look.

“I AM YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND.” The person said.

“What?” Armaan said. This time, terribly surprised.

“What what?” asked the person.

“How? How is it even possible?” Armaan asked.

“Let’s not discuss about the possibilities. The real thing is that I’m the only one in this whole world who knows you better than you. So tell me who you are fooling?” subconscious mind Armaan asked.

“Fooling? I’m not fooling anyone.” Armaan said.

“Hmmm?” the subconscious Armaan gave him a rusty look. “It would be a better if you stop fooling me. What do you think I don’t know the reason behind your dilemma?”

“Oh really? Then tell me what it is Mr. Subconscious me.” He said.

“Ayushka”

“What?”

“I said Ayushka you deaf person.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Armaan said.

“Ha ha ha. Nice punch Mr. Armaan Sharma. I can’t stop laughing.”

“Logically you are laughing at yourself. Am I right?”

“First tell me. Am I Right?”

“I need to sleep. I have an important appointment tomorrow.”

“I know. Dr. Batra.”

“If you know that, then let me sleep.”

(Narrator’s pause)

By this time, you may have realized who I am.

But if not, read it again.

At Dr. Batra’s clinic………

“Armaan, there’s nothing to worry about. It’s just you sinus which is causing problems. I’m just increasing your dosage and you will be fine.” Doctor said.

“Okay doctor.” Armaan replied.

“If it causes more problems, immediately contact me.”

“Okay.”

“Your sinus is a big pain buddy.” I said.

“Oh so you feel too. I thought you are just a mental case scenario.” Armaan said.

“I’m watching you buddy. You are going great with your punch lines. Keep it up.” I winked at him and he gave me his signature rusty look.

“I think your phone is vibrating.” I told him.

“Hmm? Let me check.” He said while looking at his phone. And the way his facial expressions changed, it was an easy guess for me to tell who the caller is.

“Hey. Wassup.” Armaan said to the person on the phone.

“Hmm? Ok. 6:30 P.M. at DD. Okay. See you there.” He said and disconnected the phone.

“Ahaan. Date. We are going on a date.” I said.

“We? Seriously dude? And for your kind information it’s not a date.” Armaan said.

“Yes buddy. We. You forgot who I am? And I know it is not a date. I was just playing with you. With this face the only date you deserve is a court date.” I said. “And don’t worry. I just want to spend some quality time with you. So it’s just Armaan and Armaan time. I’m not going to bother you in public with others. So go son. Enjoy your date.”

“Arghhhh.”

“Ok sorry.”

(Narrator)

“Well let me tell you one thing. This friend of mine is actually a soft at heart person. Emotional, selectively introvert and a genuine personality.

Ok I won’t brag about myself.”

“Hi.” Armaan said.

“Hello.” Ayushka replied.

“What happened? You look tensed.” He asked looking at her face.

“Nothing, it’s just some few issues with my friend.”

“Oh. So ultimately there’s nothing I can help with.”

“Yes.”

“Hmm?”

“Sorry. How are you?”

“I’m good. And it will be waste of words asking how are you.”

“Shut Up.” Ayushka smiled.

“Finally, the signature smiley.”

“He he. Yes.”

Later that night…..

“That was a great evening.” I said.

“Yes. But she is still tensed I think.” Armaan said.

“About that friend thing?”

“Yes. As you are a part of me, can you give me some idea to cheer her up?” Armaan asked.

“Who me? I think you already did.” I said.

“Hmm? How?”

“By sending her a message. See see, she’s typing.” I said.

“It was a great evening.” Ayushka messaged.
“See, I told you. You already cheered her up.” I said.

“Seems like I did it.” Armaan said.

“It was a great pleasure to see you after such a long time.” He replied to Ayushka’s message.

“I missed you.” Ayushka said.

“In spite of texting you daily, I missed you too.” Armaan replied.

“Aww, really?”

“Yes really.”

“Yes. :-p” she replied.

“Hey you met your doctor today?” Ayushka asked.

“Yes.”

“What did he said?”

“Nothing. It was just my sinus.”

“Oh. Get well soon buddy.” Ayushka wished him.

“Hope so.” Armaan said.

“Not hope so. You will be absolutely alright and come out as the healthier version of you.” Ayushka said.

“Aye Aye captain.” He replied.

“Yes that’s good.”

“Thank you.J”

“OK I’ll talk to you tomorrow. I’m feeling sleepy.” Armaan texted.

“Oh. Ok, you can go. Good night. J” Ayushka replied.

“Good night. :-)” Armaan replied back and closed his phone.

“Liar.” I said.

“Hmm?”

“You are such a pathetic liar. Tell me honestly. Are you really feeling sleepy?”

“Mmmm. No.”

“So why did you lied to the one you love?” I asked.

“Wait, what? Who told you I love her. Dude she’s just a good friend and that’s it.” He said.
“Liar Liar.”

“Stop calling me that.”

“Liar Liar.”

“Will you stop singing?” he said.

“Liar Liar.”

“Liar Liar.”

“Liar Liar.”

“Liar Liar.”

“Will you…………………” he stared at me angrily.

“First tell me who are fooling buddy. I am with you since your birth. Every time, everywhere, I was with you. So it’s better to stop lying and just admit what I said.” I said.

He sat on the couch and started looking at the roof.

“I don’t know if I love her or not.” He said.

“Ok just do one thing. Answer yes or no to my questions. Fine?” I said.

“Fine.” He said.

“Do you feel cherished when she text you?”

“Yes.”

“Do you feel bad for her whenever she is sad no matter what the problem is?”

“Yes.”

“Do you adore her presence whenever she is near you?”

“Yes.”

“Do you feel jealous of people who meet her on a regular basis?”

“Yes.”

“I want you to answer this very carefully. What’s the reason behind your constant over thinking?”

He kept silent for a moment.

“She.”

“I’m done and you know your answers. And I don’t think there’s anything else to say.”

“But…….”

“No If or but. The thing is you love her. And that’s for final. Congratulations you finally realized that you lost your heart to someone beautiful, beautiful and amazingly adorable.” I said.

“Will you listen to me for a second?” he said.

“Hmm? What happened?” I said.

“I hate it.”

“Hmm? You hate it? Whatever you are saying is making me confused as hell.”

“I hate this feeling.”

“Why?”

“Because these feelings are of no use. They are not going to reciprocate in any way.

Dude she’s a good girl and I admit that I love her than anyone else. You don’t know how I feel whenever I see her. I never believed in butterflies in stomach thing but every time I get a glimpse of her, I feel a sweet tickling gesture. Every other time. You know me. You know how restless I become when I never get a word from her. There were days when I used to feel like it’s just opposite sex attraction and nothing else. But later I realized that it is way way more than just attraction.”

I sat there in complete silence. I was looking at him and I knew that his feelings were genuine. The way he was describing her, there was a constant glow on his face.

I know what you are thinking. I’m his subconscious self and I don’t know about his feelings?

Believe me; I was partially unaware of this thing. I knew that there’s something which is bothering me and that’s why I came out of his mind. You people really underestimate the power of the subconscious you.

Let me tell you one thing…………….. Wait, he’s going to say something. Talk to you later.

“I always wanted to tell her about this. But every time I try to do so, I get scared.” He said.

“Scared? Why?” I asked.

“I’m scared of the consequence of my act. I think I will lose her. Maybe I will never see her again after this. Because it’s only me with this feeling. For her, I’m just a friend.”

“But you need to take a step.”

“I know.”

“Then don’t hesitate and go.”

“I can’t.”

“But why?”

“I told you.”

“Either this way or that, you are on the verge of losing her.”

“Hmm.”

“So why not give it a shot? No matter what will the consequence, at least you tried.”

“Hmm.”

“So? What’s your decision?”

“I don’t know. I’m still scared.”

“I can understand your feeling. But sitting here, with the feelings kept hard inside the heart is not going to help you. Rest is your decision. Good night.”

“Good Night.”

…………………

So,

That’s all.

But why am I telling you all this?

Why am I sharing our personal conversation with you?

Because every story is written for a reason and in a world where the real concept of love is lost somewhere far away, we need to bring it back.

Love at first sight is not a thing. We need to differentiate between the concept of attraction and affection and that’s where things get messed up.

Now that’s up to you guys how you read these words and how you conclude their meanings. No matter what happens next, never be afraid of expressing your feelings because you don’t know what comes next.

That’s it everyone.

Thank you for giving this piece your valuable time.

I know what you are thinking.

What about Armaan?

Well he expressed his feelings to Ayushka a few days later

Things didn’t go as we thought.

Because…….

She accepted that she stole his heart.

Okii Dokii Artichokii

He was sitting in the café situated in the heart of the city, waiting for her.

Wait!

Don’t misconcept this story as a regular heart aching or head banging story. Our protagonist here is waiting for his best friend.

Let’s come back to the story now.

It’s been like one and a half hours since he was waiting.

“Late again.” He murmured.

So finally after a long tiring and boring wait, she arrived.

“Sorry. I’m really really sorry.” She apologized.

“It’s ok. I’m here since last one and a half hour ONLY.” he said making a silly face.

“Don’t make me feel guilty. I just said sorry.” She said making a guilty but bit irritated face.

“Are we going to play this sorry, it’s ok game whole day?”  He complained.

“Sorry?” she questioned.

“Who the hell is going to hug me idiot. It’s been like 18 months since we last met.” He said.

“Awwww” She said and gave him a tight hug.

“Missed you Bud.” She said.

“Missed you too Panda. It feels so good to see you after such a long time.” He replied. ”Well I think its fine now. Leave me, I’m suffocating.” He joked.

“Hawww. That’s so mean.” She said pushing him back. “So how life is going?”

“Absolutely amazing. Accounts are overloaded, still no money in hands. Bank servers are jammed so if your card works, you are a lucky person.” He winked.

“Dude, stop acting like a finance minister. You sound so boring.” She said hitting his head “Hey you damn fucked up spirit, get out of my Bud’s head. Understand? Otherwise I leave you in such a condition that you will forget your own body.”

“Says the enchantress.”

“Yeah.” She said and started laughing like they are unaware that where they are.

“How’s your hottie dude? It’s been so long without any post or pic.” She asked.

“Ohh She? She left me. 3 months ago.” He answered.

“OOOH. Sorry. Didn’t know that.” She apologized.

“Ah, don’t feel sorry. It’s absolutely ok. Actually I’m happy now you know. You don’t know how feels roaming like an open wild bull around the city.” He said.

“Lol.” She giggled.

“Oh god. Please not again.” He complained.

“What happened?” She asked.

“You know it very well what happened. I seriously, desperately, eagerly want to meet the person who abbreviated a nice decent Hahahahahahaha into the clichéd LOL.” He told making a sick face.

“Awww.” She said making her signature cute face which always made him fall 10 feet deeper.

“Shall we order something? I’m hungry.” He asked.

“Didn’t you have something?” She questioned.

“Yes. 3 glass of water.” He answered.

“Hawww. Sorry it was just the excitement and flow. Sorry sorry sorry. Let’s see what do they have?” She said picking up the menu card.

“Actually we should leave.” He said.

“Why? What happened?” She questioned.

“They have a very boring menu. That’s why I had only water.” He said and laughed.

“Lo…. Hahahahahahaha” She laughed watching his facial expressions as she was going to say which always made him mad.

“Better.” He giggled.

“Fine. So where should we go?” She asked.

“I don’t know. I’m don’t live here anymore. You know this city better than me now. So what do you suggest?” He said.

“Hmmm, I know a place and you are pretty familiar with it.” She said,

“Where?” He asked.

“Come with me.” She said.

“But whe…….” She dragged him before he could finish his sentence.

In next few minutes they were sitting in the basement of the food joint where the budding friendship between both of them grew up into a beautiful flower.

“So tell me girl. What’s going on these days?” He asked.

“Mmmm nothing special. Same boring job, same boring routine and same beautiful dreams.” She winked.

“I thought you loved your job.” He said.

“Yes. I used to, until it became my headache.” She complained. “It used to be pretty decent, good job earlier. But then I realized that you cannot judge a book by its cover. You know when you start something; either you hate it first and love it later or vice versa. In my case, it’s vice versa.”

“Whoa. That’s a whole lot of philosophy. If you hate your job this much then why don’t you quit?” He said.

“I thought of doing so. But what if I quit and don’t find a new job easily? So it would be better if I look for a replacement and then quit.” She answered.

“Hmmm. So found any?” He asked.

“Yes I’ve shortlisted some. Well leave it. Let’s not talk about this boring topic. You came back after this long just to discuss my job?” She said.

“No.” He answered.

“So stop being so formal.” She said.

“Sorry. But I cannot think of anything else.” He said.

“It’s ok. Ah here’s our token number.” She said.

“Hmm.” He said.

“What hmmm? Act like a gentleman. Go get the order idiot.” She giggled.

“Aye Aye captain. “ He said and stood up to get their order.

“Let’s go out.” He said after they finished their meal.

“Why? Let’s sit here and talk Na.” She said.

“I want to experience our old walk and talk.” He said.

“Ah. How can I forget that? Let’s go bud.” She said, excited.

“This time, we will have a long walk.” He said.

“Fine.” She said and both left the food joint.

It was pretty cold outside. But for them, weather condition meant nothing. They talked about everything, like they are not going to meet again. From old friend to how they started talking, old relationships to their classmate’s dog.

“Annie, can I say something?” He said after a long pause.

She knew that whenever he addresses her in this way, there’s something serious. There’s something which is bothering him.

“Is everything okay Faiz?” She asked.

“Oh yes. Everything is fine. It just like I feel so overwhelmed with gratitude and emotions. You don’t know how it feels to be alone.” He said.

“It’s fine. It just the distance that made you boring.” She said.

“Not the distance. Circumstances, fucked up job, singlehood, what’s not there to make me sick. You remember I was the one who always howls about living alone, independent, achieving everything on your own.” He said.

“Yes. I remember. But you’ve achieved a lot. Way more than you expected.” She said.

“But that comes at a price Annie. You don’t know how it feels like being in a city for 4 years but still feels like a stranger, alone. Everyone you meet is just for the career scope. By the end of the day, it’s just you and your loneliness. I’m so alone there. Despite being surrounded by a number of people, I’m alone.” He said.

She noticed him, his voice. Teary eyes, heavy throat. She kept silent.

By the very next moment, she hugged him as tight as she could. All of his emotions, his grief came out as a flood of tears.
“It’s okay bud. It’s okay. Remember, you are not alone. No matter how far we live, not matter how distant we are. I’m always here for you, always. Now don’t cry. You are my strong bud. My stupid bud. My bestest bud.” She said holding in her arms.

“Okii.” He said.

“Dokii.” She said.

“Artichokii.” He said.

“Here comes my old bud.”  She said.

The Girl in My Red Jacket

Few months later, he accessed his archive folder where he usually transfers the group messages and texts from people who never bothered him. But this time, the reason was different, reason to move over. To clear memories which were his weakness.
“I don’t think this is working.” Jiya messaged.

“Hm? I don’t get you.” Zakir replied.
“I want to end this. I’m sorry but I don’t want to talk. Anymore.” Jiya said.
“What happened?” Zakir asked.

“Jiya is everything okay? You fine?” he sent another message.

But his texts were only been sent, not delivered, nor read. Zakir called her. But after several unsuccessful attempts he realized she blocked his number.
“WHAT THE FUCK!” Zakir said and called Ruhana, Jiya’s roommate.
“Hello Ruhana, Zakir here.”
“Oh! Hello. Wassup?”

“Is Jiya there?” Zakir asked.

By judging his tone Ruhana asked, “What happened Zakir? Is everything alright?”

“Is Jiya there Ruhana?” Zakir questioned again.

“No. But wha…….” Zakir ended the call before Ruhana can understand the situation.

On the other hand Zakir was also wondering that what happened due to which Jiya ended their 2 year relationship in just few words.

The girl of his desire, his dream left him alone in the crowd of a million people. He never thought of such situation to happen. But the reality was standing in front of him with a poker face.

Zakir was a different kind of person. In the present day where everyone roamed with a coating of bluff on their face, he was a guy who took everything seriously. That’s why his family loved him. That’s why his friends loved him. But the girl, whom he loved from the very core of his heart, left him.

“Dude, she is a bitch. I don’t why a girl will leave you without giving any reason?” Zakir’s friend Navi said.

“Hm.” Zakir responded to Navi’s point without paying much attention to him.

“Don’t worry dude. She’s not the only one. There are many more out there better than her.” Navi said.

“She is the only one.” Zakir murmured.

After that he never got any call or news from her. So today after number of failed attempts and covering a whole distance of saddened phase of his alone, he decided to move on. He deleted every memory from photos to texts to chats to her number. He is a free man now.

After few months………………….

“Hello Zakir.”

“Yes I am.”

“Ruhana here. Want to meet you. Can we?”

“If it is about Jiya then I don’t want to talk. I’m over thi……….”

“Zakir listen. You need to listen to me.” Ruhana said interrupting Zakir in-between.

“What happened? Is everything alright?”

“Nothing is right Zakir. She needs you. She is dying.”

“What!!! What are you saying? Tell me everything.”

“Meet me outside the CS block. I will tell you everything.”

In next few minutes Ruhana was standing in front of Zakir. One can easily guess by her body language that something is wrong.

“What happened?” Zakir asked.

“There’s something very wrong Jiya Zakir.” Ruhana said.

“What is it?” Zakir asked.

“ Lung Carcinoma.” Ruhana answered.

“Hm?” Zakir answered trying to understand Ruhana.

“She is suffering from lung cancer. 3rd stage.” Ruhana said, finally revealing the problem.

“WHAT! What are you saying? How is it even possible?” Zakir asked, surprised.

“I don’t know. She even didn’t tell me about her situation. Few days after you guys broke up; she left the hostel and went to her parents. Maybe she was hiding her condition to us.” Ruhana told Zakir.

Zakir started crying. “I knew something was wrong with her. From the very moment when she broke up, I knew something is not right.” He said.

“Zakir, Zakir hold on brother. Everything will be alright. Don’t worry. She will be fine.” Ruhana consolidated him.

“How she can be so selfish? How?” It was extremely hard for Zakir to hold on. Ruhana also felt helpless in this situation.

“Where is she right now? I want to meet her.” Zakir asked.

“You can’t.” Ruhana told him.

“What! Why?” Zakir questioned.

“Because she’s under diagnosis right now. She’s not even in the city.” Ruhana told.

“Then where is she? Tell me.”

“Delhi.”

“I will go to her.”

“Are you sure?” Ruhana asked.

“Are you kidding? My life is there, lying on the bed. She needs me. I cannot afford to lose her. Again.” Zakir said still fighting with his tears.

Ruhana came to Delhi with Zakir. Next few hours were supposed to be the heaviest moment in their lives. Especially Zakir.

There she was lying. The girl of his dream. His lifeline was surrounded with number of machines and tubes. She was weak, her beauty was absent, her hairs were lost and the grace was missing. But still she was Zakir’s Jiya, the most beautiful women in his life after his mother.

Jiya was also surprised to see them. Especially Zakir’s presence made her more amused. Tears came out of her eyes. She never felt this helpless. She was confused. Was it the joy of seeing him or the pain of her appearance?

“Have you seen your face in the mirror?” Zakir said to Jiya.

“What are you saying?” Ruhana complained.

“Let him be Ruhana.” Jiya said.

“You look like a new born baby. Just 5 times the size.” Zakir said and walked towards her. Jiya felt overwhelmed with the response.

“We were supposed to be partners. Aren’t we?” Zakir said holding her hands. She kept silent.

“We were supposed to be partners in joy, partners in crime, and partners in just everything. Aren’t we?” Zakir said. Again she kept silent.

“Then who the hell are you to break the bond between us? Why didn’t you tell me about your situation? When did we become strangers? Tell me Jiya.” Zakir asked.

She spoke after a minute’s pause. “Because I didn’t want you to waste your life for a girl who will eventually die in the near future.”

Zakir was stunned by the response. He never thought for such thing to happen.

“You’re right. Why should I waste my life for such a girl who will leave me soon?” Zakir said.

Zakir’s response made Jiya fall.

“Why should I waste my life for a girl who thinks that I will let her go?” he added. “You know what; you are a damn stupid girl. And that’s why I love you.”

He clenched her wrist and started looking into her eyes.

“You are the best thing ever happened to me. Our love is much stronger than your disease. We will fight together and we will come out of this shitty cancer thing together.”

“But Zakir I don’t know how much time I have. Maybe 1 day or week or month. Tomorrow if not today, I will die.”

“Oh shut up. What do you think who I am? Logan? We all will die one day. But ours one day, is too far from now. I will harass you with my pjs for a long time. But for now I won’t let you go so easily because you are my girl. You are wearing the shield of my love. You are the girl in my red jacket.”

“Open the door Abhi. Are you listening? Still sleeping? Wake up Abhi. It’s already 1 in the afternoon.”
“Abhi! Abhinay are you in there? Abhinay? Abhinay?
Abhinay Are you ok?”
…………..
“Hello. Sharma Ji! Abhinay is in his room and not opening the door.”
“Don’t worry ji. The good soul maybe sleeping.”
“Sharma Ji he never slept till now ever. Also he’s not responding to my calls. There’s something wrong Sharma Ji. There is something wrong.”
“What are you saying Abhinay’s mother? Don’t worry I’m coming home. Be calm and also inform Mr. and Mrs. Gupta.”
Mr. Sharma arrives home after 30 minutes and saw Mrs. Sharma and Mrs. Gupta sitting together while Mr. Gupta was still at Abhinay’s room’s door.
“What happened? Any response?” Said Mr. Sharma.
“No Sharma Ji. Nothing. His phone is also switched off.” Mr. Gupta Said.
Mr. Sharma rushed to Abhinay’s door and started beating it heavily.
“Abhinay! Abhinay! Are you listening? Open the door beta. Abhinay!”
“Sharma Ji i think we should samsh the door.” Mr. Gupta Said.
“Yes. You are right Gupta Ji.” said Mr. Sharma. After 3-4 attempts both succeeded in opening the door.
Inside the dark room, th3 AC was operating at full blast while on the bed was lying Abhinay’s switched off laptop and right next to it, Abhinay himself.
“Are you seeing Gupta Ji. We all here full tensed and the prince is sleeping here.” Mr. Sharma said and walked towards him. “Wake Up you idiot.”
“Sharma Ji! Something is wrong here.” said Mr. Gupta walking towards Abhinay and placed his fingers under his nostrils and then his head onto Abhinay’s chest.
He gave a dead look to Mr. Sharma.
“What happened Mr. Gupta? Why are you looking at me like this? Is there something wrong?” asked Mr. Sharma.
After a moment of silence Mr. Gupta answered “He is dead Sharma Ji.”

After an hour the whole scene completely changed. A huge crowd gathered outside Mr. Sharma’s house while the cops trying to control the rush. Inside was Abhinay’s dead body lying on the bed while the Guptas consolidating the Sharmas.
“Mr. Sharma. We found an empty bottle of sleeping pills and this note. The suicide note.” Said the Inspector.
“Suicide note?” Mr. Sharma asked and took the piece of paper.
“I am completely responsible for my act. Nobody encouraged me to take this step. I’m taking this step in my full consciousness and awareness. : Abhinay Sharma” said the note.
A few words explained Abhinay’s demise and the Sharma family’s loss.

Few Days Later……..

‘Ding – Dong’
Rang the doorbell. A girl opned the door.
“Miss Sakshi Arora?” Said the postman.
“Yes.” the girl answered.
“Here’s a post for you. Please sign here.” the postman said.
“Hmm.” and she received the envelope.
She came inside and opened the envelope.
“A letter? Who can send me this?” she said to herself and started reading it.

“Sakshi.
I’m omitting ‘dear’ because you took that right from me a few days ago. Well leave it. No harsh feelings. After all it’s my last message to you. So i urge you, like rest of my messages don’t ignore this one.
I still remember the day we first met. Who knew that the boring ordinary day will turn into an unforgettable event. A budding introduction turned into a deep relationship and we both enjoyed each other’s presence since then.
Do you remember the day when you got into a fight with your classmate regarding the seating arrangement during the lecture and i showed my concern over it. Well honestly speaking, it’s the most weirdest issue to fight over. The thing is, life is made of such silly fights to think over later and laugh at our stupidity.
Sakshi. I never thought of being into a relationship until i saw you. Don’t know how it went over to this level but you meant everything to me. You were like my favorite novel. Every night when others were busy snoring, i was into reading the novel, a never ending novel. Atleast for me.
One day when you asked me to meet, i judged that something is wrong. And my judgement came true when you said that you want to part away. And you gave such a silly reason. You said that you don’t want to betray your parents.
Tell me one thing Sakshi, when did our relationship turned into a betrayal? Is it a joke? I urged to stay. I assured you that we will find a solution for it. But you came with a mindset of breaking up. So you did.
Our oath to live together forever got destroyed like a sand castle.
I adore you Sakshi. I adore your habit of swinging your fingers through your hair. I adore your craziness for monsoon. I adore your late night talks. I adore your silly mistakes. I adore our little fights. I adore your cravings for spicy food and sweetest icecream afterwards. I adore your decision of letting go.
Well in this lifetime, i can’t give the place which i already gave to you. And like you already said, you don’t want to be a part of this relationship. I’m left with no other option Sakshi.
Today i understand the importance of a post box right next to my house.
By the time you receive this letter, I’ll be watching you from up there.
Just a little bit confused : from heaven or from hell.

Yours Loving
Teddy.”

By the time she finished reading, the ink on the letter washed away some words.
On the other hand, Abhinay’s parents were still in shock, in amusement that why did he took such step?

Café

“Even our 2 minutes Maggie takes 10 minutes to prepare. #trustIssues”

“Now that’s a serious trust issue.” Pranav spoke to himself while going through a post on his facebook timeline. It was already 1:30 in the night and he knew that in next few hours he has to leave for airport to receive his parents. But there was battle going on between his mind and body. His body needed some rest after an exhausting day but the mind kept it awake.

Pranav, a 23 year old student and a businessman. Businessman? How? Well apart from being a student, he also had a Café. It was all his effort that in a short span of 3 years, his café got a reputable status in the city. From college going youngsters to cute couples to business officials with clients, everyone from every age group made his café a cool hotspot to hang out. Earlier when he told his idea of running a coffee shop to his parents, they opposed him. Especially his father as he had another plans for him. But when he saw his dedication towards his ambition and the day by day progress of his café he appreciated his decision. But his journey from being an average youth with no future plans to one of the youngest business man in the city was not a piece of cake. It’s not a story of his business upbringing. It’s his story of making himself a better person. A story of broken relationship. A story of altered trust. A story of true friends.

4 Years Ago:

“Pranav. Pranav. Wake up son. Don’t you have to go to college? Wake up beta otherwise I’ll call you papa.” It was Pranav’s mother calling him.
“I am mom.” Pranav woke up thinking how rapidly the weekend went. After getting ready he went to the dining hall where he confronted his father, a government official at a high post. “And here comes the Prince. Welcome highness. Hope your night went well.” Said his father taunting him.
“Good morning Pa.”
“hmm Good morning. Do you ever think what you will do if you keep waking up this late?” said his father scolding him mildly.
“I’m going mom.” Pranav told his mother.
“Son your breakfast.” said his mother coming out of the kitchen. But he was already gone.
Pranav always tried to not to be in a conversation with his father in the morning as he always had a single topic, ‘CAREER’.

“Caught again?” said his classmate and brother from another mother, Nipun.

“Absolutely bro. Just tell me the relation between career and duration you sleep at night. What’s the logic behind?” asked Pranav.
“Well, ask your dad.” Nipun said and laughed.
“Why not !” Pranav replied and laughed too. “Still 10 minutes remaining for first lecture. Let’s go and eat something. I skipped my breakfast to skip father’s red chili sauce meal.” he added.
“Agh. My boy is hungry. Ok. Let’s go.” replied Nipun.

………………………….

“Such a boring day brother. Feels like it took a month to end this day.” Complained Pranav after the college.
“Seriously bro. And the history lecture, so boring. I slept twice in 40 minutes.” Said Nipun.
“Me thrice.” Said Pranav and both laughed.

There was an utter silence while driving home. “Still thinking about it?” Nipun asked.
“Hmm? No. No. I’m tired a little bit.” Pranav said.

“No matter how much you hide. I know you’re lying brother.” Nipun spoke to himself.

And actually Pranav was into an another world thinking about everything he went through in past one and a half years.

1.5 Years Ago:

“Happy Birthday to you

Happy Birthday to you

Happy Birthday to dear Nikita.

Happy Birthday to you.”

The restaurant was at its full blast and it was carried up by Nikita’s friends. After all it was their most adorable friend’s birthday. It was little awkward for Pranav to be there as he barely knew any of Nikita’s friend. But because she insisted, Pranav had to come. Friendship between Nikita and him was not so old, but just in 3 months they developed a bond between each other like they’ve known each other for years. They both met at a social gathering at one of their mutual friend Kenith. As she was the best friend of both, they were introduced to each other much quicker than anyone. It took a while to Pranav to initiate a conversation. But then they started talking to each other every day. Their nights were all dedicated to their endless conversation. And in-between this duration Pranav proposed Nikita. Meanwhile she declined his proposal, they kept talking.

“Pranav, I want to be friends right now. I never thought of you in that way. You’re a nice guy. But I don’t want to be in a relationship right now. I hope you’ll understand.” Nikita texted Pranav the day he proposed him.

“Hmmm. It’s okay. Good Night Nikita. Take care.” Pranav replied back.
“Pranav listen. I’m sorry. But I hope you’ll understand” Nikita said.
“Hey Nikita. Why are you feeling sorry? I know and even I don’t want to take it so fast. It’s ok. Chill. J” Pranav replied. “Actually I’m bit tired today. So feeling sleepy.” He added.
“Ok. J You’re a nice guy. Ok then, good night, sweet dreams. J.” Nikita said.
“Good Night Nikita. J” Pranav said.
But that night, he barely slept.

Their conversation kept on going after that incident until one day Pranav got a text from Nikita which chilled his bones severally.
“Don’t text me or try to contact me from now on. Sorry but I don’t want to talk to you anymore.”

It was very surprising for him to get such a message from her. It’s been like a week they didn’t had any conversation and suddenly this message. It was like a mini heart attack for him.
“What happened? Is everything ok?” Pranav asked.
“Everything is ok. Just don’t text me. I just don’t want to talk anymore.” Nikita replied.

“Why? At least tell me the reason.” Pranav messaged her and many more like this. But she made her decision so she didn’t texted back.
Since that day, Pranav didn’t have any message or call from her.
“Pranav. Pranav. Dude where are you?” Nipun shaked Pranav and he came from his flashback. “Your home brother. We reached your home.”

“Ah. Thanks brother.” Pranav said and stepped out of the car.
“Bro you’re ok?” Nipun asked.
“I am bro. don’t take tension. I’m absolutely fine.” Pranav said convincing Nipun.

“Ok. Take care. Bye.”

“You too bro. See you.” Pranav said.

“She’s a bitch brother.” Kenith said to Pranav. “She does this every time. Believe me. I know her from past two years and trust me she is just like this. Playing with others emotions is her trait. I don’t remember whether she had been friend with anyone more than 4 months.” She added.

“But Kenith I never felt like this. We had a great time together.” Pranav said.
“I’ve seen her bro. She is just like this. If you meet her two days later she will act like you both have never met. She will treat you like you’re an absolute stranger.” Kenith said.
With every word Pranav felt like he was ripping apart. He never trusted anyone as Kenith. That’s why when she said all this, he somehow believed her at some extent.

For Pranav it was hard to believe. That’s why after a while he tried to contact Nikita again but I was of no use. She read his messages but never responds. Despite of all his efforts, he was facing disappointments every time. With every failure his patience raised a bar above and Kenith’s words were proved right to him.
One day Pranav messaged Nikita.
“Dear Nikita,

I know we are not talking. I don’t know what my fault is. All I know is that I had friend. A good friend. And one day suddenly that good friend started acting weird. You know you were like my favorite novel which I used to read every night. But you always considered me as a new toy you bought with a great compassion. But with every passing day that compassion was lowering down. And one good day it was placed into to the cupboard and never took out. Please tell me what I have done which made you let down.”

With a hope, he sent the message to her and slept thinking about its consequence.
Next day when he woke up, he checked his phone first. The message was not delivered yet. He checked his phone in every 10 minute. While in his lecture he checked again and saw that she read her message. His heart started beating fast. But when he didn’t received any reply from her in 30 minutes he realized that his one more effort gone wasted.
The same night while waiting for her reply, his patience lost its control.
“I got it. Now I realize. You treated me as your part of interest. It was all like a new DTH connection with 1 month subscription free. You enjoyed all the channels for the first month and then just disconnected it. I’ve never seen a girl like you. Friendship with you was my life’s biggest mistake.” Pranav messaged Nikita. Maybe for the last time.

While trying to sleep, Pranav went into the flashback again. He didn’t realize when he slept but that day he woke up early morning.
It took time for Pranav to forget everything. The only concern for him was the night when there was absolute dark and nothing to do.
“How’s the free soul?J” Pranav got a message one night.
“OMG Jazz. Is that you? Where have you been girl?” Pranav replied.
It was Jazz a.k.a Jasleen, Pranav’s old friend. Pranav and Jasleen knew each other from form their school time and one of his closest friends.
“Been bit busy these days. College – C.A. Coaching. I don’t have any free time until 8:30 in evening.” Jasleen said.
“Such a hectic schedule yaar.” Pranav replied back.

“Seriously yaar. Leave that. Say what’s going on these days. All well?” Jasleen asked.
“Nothing dear. Just enjoying my exile from humanity.” Pranav said.

“Exile from humanity. That’s deep and you sound like shit. Tell me what happened?” Jasleen showed her concern.
However Pranav declined about Jasleen’s fact but when she insisted he told everything happened with him in last 1.5years.
“That’s weird. How can someone just act like this?” Jasleen said.
“Don’t know yaar. But forget it. I’m over it.” Pranav said.

“Hmm.” Jasleen sighed. “Pranav listen to me.”
“Yes”
“I have a doubt.” Jasleen said.
“Doubt? About what?” Pranav asked.
“Let me tell you something Pranav.” Said Jasleen.
“Yes. Say.”
“Pranav do you remember about Kenith and her boyfriend during our school time?” Jasleen asked.
“Yes I remember. But they had their breakup after sometime.” Pranav said.
“Do you know why?” Jasleen said.

“No.” Said Pranav. “Why? Is there something?”
“Trust issues. You don’t know what she did to me. You know she was dating two guys at that time and when her boyfriend came to know about this, she lied him that the other guy is into me and she was just helping him.” Jasleen told Pranav.
“What? Seriously she did this? I can’t believe it.” Pranav said surprisingly.

“Believe it or not Pranav. But this is the truth. You don’t know how much I hate that girl.” Jasleen said.
Pranav was just typing but he recalled the time when he told Kenith about Nikita and his differences and what she said about her.
“Maybe Jasleen, You’re right. You know when I told Kenith about Nikita and me she looked quite disturbed. And when I told her about the incident she said a lot of things about her and…….” Pranav said.
“And? “Jasleen asked.
“And I think that she did the same with her.”Pranav said.
“You mean to say she manipulated her?” Jasleen said.
“Maybe yes. I think the way she presented her in front of me, maybe she did the same in front of her.” Pranav said.
“Actually I think the same.” Jasleen said.
“But there’s a doubt. What If it’s all my imagination and nothing else?” Pranav expressed his concern.
“Maybe this can be. But Dude you need to clear out things with Nikita if there is any.” Jasleen said.
“Never thought of this yaar. If my doubt about Kenith is true then I said a lot of things yaar. I’m seriously feeling guilty yaar.” Pranav said.
“Pranav, Pranav, listen to me. You need to clear out things.” Jasleen said.
“But how Jazz? I didn’t have any contact with Nikita in last 1.5 years. And she ignores me on the other hand.” Pranav said.
“That is a big problem. But if you want, I can help you.” Jasleen said.
“Help me? How?” Pranav asked.

“Well for your kind information Mr. Pranav, the girl Nikita you are talking about, is my tuition mate.” Jasleen said.
“What?” Pranav said surprisingly. “Seriously she is your tuition mate Jazz?”
“Yes she is. And also she is my good friend. That’s why I said that maybe somewhere there is some kind of misunderstanding between you two.” Jasleen said.
“Oh god. Please Jazz help me. I want to clear things out. Please help me.” Pranav said.
“Ok Ok. I will.” Jasleen said.

Two days later Pranav got a call from Jasleen asking to meet her at a café. He agreed. In next 30 minutes he was outside the café and called Jasleen.
“I’m sitting inside. Come in.” Jasleen answered.
“Ok.”
Pranav stepped inside and saw Jasleen. There was someone else with her. It was Nikita. They both were surprised by each other’s presence.
“Pranav meet Nikita. Nikita meet Pranav.” Jasleen introduced them.
“Hi Nikita.” Pranav said moving his hand further towards Nikita.

“Hello.” Nikita replied ignoring his hand.
“Sit Pranav.” Jasleen said. “I’m getting a call. Excuse me for a moment.” She said and left.
There was an utter silence between both of them.
“Why did you come here?” Nikita asked after few minutes.

“What do you mean? Jasleen called me to come.” Pranav answered.
“Don’t make a fool of me. What do you think I don’t know why are you here?” Nikita said aggressively. “Listen. I don’t want to talk to you. Understand?”
“Nikita listen to me once. I’m sorry whatever I said. I’m sorry to hurt you. I’m sorry for everything. I didn’t mean those. I was angry.” Pranav apologized.
“Oh. You were angry hah. What should I do then? Make a dish out of it? Don’t you understand? I’m not interested in having a conversation with you.” Nikita said angrily.
Pranav sat there, stunned at Nikita’s behavior, heartbroken. He left the café and ignored Jasleen’s call while walking out.
He never felt this kind of pain. Not even when Nikita told him to not to be in contact earlier. He didn’t ate that day, confined himself into his own grief, he kept his room locked the whole day.
That night he received a text from Jasleen.
“I told her everything and showed her our messages of that day. And guess what? You were right. She was manipulated by Kenith.”
“It’s over Jasleen. Its over.” Pranav said after few minutes.
“Are you mad? Dude she wants to talk to you. She was feeling guilty for her behavior and you are here saying its over.” Said Jasleen.

“Good Night Jasleen.” Pranav said and locked his phone. ……………………………………….

After that day Pranav and Nikita never met again. Jasleen rather told him what happened that day after he left sometime later. But Pranav never bothered to reinitiate their relationship.

During this mean time he made his mind to never look back and make a fresh start. With the help of his friend Nipun, he started his own business and made a reputable name in the city.
Present day:

While sitting in his café, busy with his bill books, Pranav saw someone sitting on one of the table. It may sound quite weird but he took the writing pad, wore the apron and walked towards the table, looked into those pair of well known eyes and asked, “May I have your order miss.”

It’s Complicated (Part 2)

“What ?” Ankita said, surprising. She was totally unaware of Aniket’s feelings for her. “You Ok Aniket ?” Ankita asked.
“I’m absolutely in my senses. Ankita tell me, do you accept my proposal ?” Aniket asked her.
“No.” It took 15 minutes for Ankita to respond. “But you’re a good friend to me. You’re a nice guy too. But Aniket, I don’t want to be in a relationship right now.”
“But why Ankita ?” Aniket questioned.
“Listen Aniket, I only want friends in life. Maybe I can think about you later. But not now Aniket. Sorry.” Ankita answered.
“Hmm. I respect your decision.” Aniket said. “Good Night Ankita.”
“I’m sorry Aniket. I hope you understand my feelings.” Ankita said.
“Hey, Why are you feeling sorry. It’s Ok. 🙂
Now go to sleep otherwise you’ll have dark circles. :-p ” Aniket said.
“Haha. Ok. Good Night.” Ankita replied.
But was it all ok for him ? Aniket thought. It took him 6 months to gather courage to speak out his emotions. And at this moment he felt like he’s sinking into his bed.
“Can we meet today ?” Aniket called Ankita next day.
“Hmmm, I’ll see.” Ankita answered.
“Actually It’s bit urgent. That’s why I was saying.” Aniket showed his concern.
“Hmm Ok.” She agreed.
“Ok. Let’s meet at CCD at the mall by 1 ?”
“Ok.” Ankita answered.
When Ankita entered CCD Aniket was already sitting inside. “Want to order something ?” Aniket questioned.
“Nah. Actually i have an engagement at 3:30. So I’m in bit hurry. You said there’s something urgent you wanted to discuss about.” Ankita asked.
“Oh yes.” Aniket answered. “Actually I was saying that last night you were saying that you want to keep it to friendship.”
“Yes .” Ankita said.
“Then I’ll wait.” Aniket added
“For what ?” Ankita questioned.
“I’ll wait until you want to take this relationship further. I’ll wait till that day.” Aniket answered.
“Oh Aniket” Ankita said “I I I I…..” she mumbled.
“Yes ! Say” Aniket said.
“I just said so.” Ankita told him. “Actually there’s a guy. I like him.”
Aniket was stunned. He said “But you said that you want……..”, Ankita interrupted “Yes I said that because I didn’t wanted to break your heart.”
“Hmmm.” Aniket sighed.
“Ok listen I’ve to go.” Ankita said.
“Ah. Yes. Go.” Aniket came back to his senses.
“I’m sorry Aniket.” Ankita apologized.
“No dear.” Aniket tried to smile. “It’s ok. I’m fine. You have a meeting in few minutes. You better leave.”
“Hmm. Bie, Take Care” Ankita said.
“You too.” Aniket replied.
Meanwhile Ankita was gone, Aniket sat there for 1 more hour. He thought of the meeting and found a noticeable point. When she was describing about his interest, she was bit uncomfortable and was mumbling also. Aniket figured out the whole scenario. Ankita was lying.

Things became normal later. Aniket started attending his classes regularly, kept on going with friends. But now he barely spent any time with Mahira and her gang. He didn’t want to face Ankita. He even reduced his interaction with Mahira. It was not like he was completely ignoring Ankita. They still kept talking in those dark nights. But somehow he thought that she didn’t want to talk. Somedays there barely any conversation took place. And somedays they talked like they’ve met after a long time. But one day, Aniket got something which made him restless.
“Don’t message me. Sorry but i don’t want to talk anymore.” It was Ankita’s message. Aniket didn’t even thought of anything like this. He always thought maybe not this time but he can build his chance to agree Ankita. But these words ended up all. He relentlessly kept on sending messages to Ankita for the reason to this.
But she decided not to talk, so she didn’t answer any of them. Aniket was wet with tears. He lost his only hope to carry on further.

It’s been 1 and half year since her last message. Aniket tried his best to contact her in this time but never succeeded. He moreover tried to move on but he can’t. Everyday he tried to sleep he was blessed with dreams of her. Some beautiful ones and some nightmares too.
One day when he was in his college with his friends, he got call. It was Mahira.
“Hey Dear. Wassup ?” Aniket attended the call.
“Can we meet ?” Mahira didn’t answered his question, instead he asked her.
“Now ? Not possible. Have some important lectures today.”
Mahira started crying. ” Hey You ok ? Why are you crying ?” Aniket became nervous.
“I had breakup Aniket. With Prince.” Mahira said crying.
“Tell me where are you. I’m coming” Aniket said.
“Meet me at the coffee shop at the Mall.” Mahira said catching her breath.
“Ok. I’m coming.” Aniket said.
In the next few minutes he was at the venue. He was shocked to see Ankita there. He tend to return back then he realized that he came here for Mahira so he came back. Mahira was sitting in the centre with Divya and Ankita on her sides consolidating her.
“He’s such a jerk.” Divya said ” Can’t believe he left her after a long time of their relationship.”
Ankita kept quite. Maybe Aniket’s presence made her so. Aniket also kept looking down at the table.
After a minute of silence Aniket spoke
“How it feels like after several breakups Mahira ?”
The whole trio looked in amusement and confusion at Aniket.
“What are you saying Aniket ?” Mahira said.
“Don’t act like you don’t understand what I’m saying.” Aniket complained. “You said he’s the best guy ever na ? Now where’s the best guy ?” He added.
“Please Aniket stop talking about him.” Mahira Requested.
“I’m not talking about him. I’m talking about you Mahira. Just look at you. You’re just 21 and you made your life so complicated.” Aniket said. “You’re so pissed off of your life. Tell me why do you need someone to understand you ? At the age when one must think about the career, enjoy the life, take full advantage of the life, you’re hanging out with number of relationships, making your life more miserable. Just look at you. So weak, so empty. Is that what you deserve ? Is that what you desire ?”
Mahira, Divya and Ankita looked at Aniket in complete surprise. Maybe he was harsh, but he was right. Absolutely right. Ever since after her breakup everyone was consolidating her. But then it was Aniket who actually accused her for her situation. And she 100% agreed to him.
“Listen Mahira, It’s bad whatever happened with you. But still there’s time. Wake up. Open your eyes. Look at the world. Step out and explore yourself. Not to show anyone about your abilities. But for yourself.” Aniket said.
“Hmm” Mahira sighed “You’re right Aniket. It was always me who let others take advantage of me. It’s all my fault. But not now. I will change myself Aniket. Not for my parents, not for my friends. But, for myself.”
Aniket smiled. He succeeded for what he came for. But he didn’t knew that it was not only Mahira who changed. His words left an impression on someone else too.

Three nights after the incident, when he was juggling with his assignments his phone rang. It was a number but Aniket knows who it was.
“Hello Aniket.”
“Ankita ?” Aniket said, reacting as surprised.
“Yes. Me. I know I hadn’t contacted you for a long time. But this time couldn’t resist myself.” Ankita said.
“Hmm” Aniket sighed.
“Can we meet tomorrow ? CCD ?” Ankita asked.
“Hm. Actually i cant……..”Aniket was saying but Ankita interrupted
“Please don’t deny Aniket. Please.”
“Ok.” Aniket said.

Aniket’s coffee was finished and his flashback too. He was checking his phone that suddenly the door opened. It was Ankita. Despite of having an umbrella, she was quite wet.
“Hey. Sorry to keep you waiting. This rain.” Ankita said.
“No it’s ok.” Aniket answered.
“Coffee for two.” Aniket placed his order.
Their coffee arrived. After a moment Aniket broke the silence ” You wanted to meet me. Any special purpose ?”
“Yes.” Ankita said. “Actually that day when you came for Mahira, i realized that i made a mistake. I never thought of someone as good as you. You know, that day when you were talking to Mahira, i kept listening to you. And realized that I was wrong. I thought you were like others. But you’re not. Aniket, it’s bit late, but I like you.”
Aniket kept silent. After a moment he spoke “Ankita, you know, I’ve been waiting for this moment since our last meeting. But don’t know why when you called me last night, there was no scope for excitement. You know yesterday after your call, I went through all of our snaps which we took while scaling the city, it didn’t felt the same as earlier. I know that someday you’ll realise the mistake. But somehow during that time, I lost my hopes. Maybe a couple of times. I wanted to leave as soon as possible that day. Maybe I’ll accept your proposal today, but the trust, the bonding, the embrace, it cannot be remade again. Ankita you’re a nice girl. I’ve always admired you. But if we talk about today, Its hard for me to move in. I’m sorry but I can’t take this further.” Aniket said and after a moment, he left.

The rain was over and the atmosphere outside became adorable. But the ambience inside was changed. One side of the table cloth became wet, with tears.

It’s Complicated (Part 1)

The rain was descending on the glass window of that cafe and he was sitting inside with a cup. With every sip out of the cup his eyes were trying to capture as much as of the view out of the window.
And why would anyone would like to miss the scene. Sitting alone in that large cafe, by the window with heavy rain outside. The cafe was situated at a beautiful street of the city with the most adorable scenery consisting of downhill view on the other side of the road. You can guess yourself view. But Aniket’s mind was somewhere else.

3 years ago………..

“What an adorable bad luck I have today.” Aniket spoke to himself. He was running 30 minutes late for the college and even missed the only bus which arrives at a regular interval of 30 minutes. He checked his watch, still 15 minutes were remaining for the next ride. Again he cursed his late riser habit as per his daily routine and made an oath to himself that he will change his habit. Despite of owing a two wheeler he preferred public transport as it was the only option to enjoy the natural beauty of Shimla.
Well somehow he reached his college but missed his first lecture.
“Welcome Sir. Came so early today. Any special purpose ?”, his friend Deepak said.
“Come on dude.”, Aniket said.
“What come on ? You missed the important topic today. How can you forget man ?”
“Oh Shit ! I just forgot that. Leave this and please give me the notes.”, Aniket said “But let’s go to the canteen first. I didn’t had my breakfast today.”
“Ok Boss. Let’s rob the inventory today.”, Deepak said and they both went on laughing.
“Mahira is in a new relationship.”Aniket said.
“Whoaky.” Deepak answered taking a big bite of rhe grilled sandwich.”Woah Woah  it’s hot, hottttt”.
Aniket passed the cold drink to Deepak.
After a quick relief Deepak said “I just can’t understand this girl Mahira. She had her breakup just 2 weeks ago and now she’s in a new relationship.”
“Don’t know bro what’s in her mind. After her last breakup she said that she trusts no one. Everyone is same.” Aniket said.
“Maybe she got a better trustworthy guy.”
“Hope so.” Aniket said. “Forget this. It’s not our matter. Ok tell me about………….”

Mahira was Aniket’s best friend since school time. Both the classmates separated when they joined their respective colleges. But she was the only one whom Aniket was in touch with. They both shared everything whatever resides in their lives and minds. Since Aniket was a bit simple personality it was Mahira who had tons of things to talk about and Aniket always used to accompany her.
“Hey Aniket.” It was Mahira’s call. Usually she don’t calls during college time. But this time she had some special plans for the day. “Listen I’m going to The Ridge with some friends. Wanna Join ?”
“No Dear. Have some lectures today.” Aniket said.
“Oh come on dude. You’re always into these lectures and all. If you’ll study all the time then when you’ll enjoy life. Please come na.” Mahira said in a complaining tone. “I’ll introduce my new friend also.”
“Hmmm, Ok. By what time you’ll be there ?” Aniket said.
“11:30. Fine ?” Mahira told Aniket.
“Fine.” Aniket confirmed.

Aniket reached the ridge by 11:30 and was waiting for Mahira and her friends. He took out his phone to call her then suddenly he saw her with her group. She came with her three friends.
“Hey. Bit late.” Aniket complained.
“Sorry to make you wait.” Mahira apologized. “Meet my friends Prince, Divya and Ankita. And guys He’s my best buddy Aniket.” Mahira said introducing her new friends.
“Hello.” Aniket greeted them.
“Hi.” Said Divya.
“Hey bro. Nice to meet you.” Prince said hugging him.
“Heard a lot about you.” Ankita said in a bit naughty tone.
Aniket smiled. “Is that so ? You made me famous Mahira.” Aniket said and they laughed.
During the time they all spent on The Ridge Mahira and Prince had their own space and Aniket, Ankita and Divya their own. No doubt Aniket had a good time with them. But this was point where it all started.
The night after the ridge meeting, Aniket was bit sleepless, riding in his own fantasies. He sat on his bed, took his laptop, logged into his Facebook account and after 15 minutes of deep search, sent a friend request to Ankita Sharma.

Next day Aniket reached his college on time. Attended all his lectures. Had a fun outing with his friends. But apart from this his mind was quite distracted also.
It’s been 16 hours and his request was still pending. Aniket never bothered for such things ever. But this time he was bit anxious. He worried if Ankita declines his request. While his mind was plotting the ‘If – What’ scenarios, his phone beeped. Aniket took out his phone and checked. He got a notification saying “Ankita Sharma accepted your friend request. Now you can see what Ankita shares with her friends.” Aniket became excited like a kid. His friends were looking at him with amusement. They never saw Aniket reacting like this earlier. Aniket realized the dignity of the place when Deepak pointed him out “Bro ! What happened ? Look so excited.”
Aniket came back to the real world “Ya I’m ok. Nothing special.” and kept smiling like he was caught.
That night Aniket was busy scrolling his news feeds that suddenly he got a message “Hi Aniket.” It was Ankita.
“Hey.” Aniket replied. “How are you ?” he added.
“I’m fine. I was going through your profile. Quite interesting must say.” Ankita said.
“Really ! Thank you. 🙂 ” He said, smiling.
That night they both talked till 2 in the night until both of them felt sleepy.
Aniket and Ankita started talking everyday. Their conversation now shifted from Facebook to their phone’s inbox. He started spending time with Mahira and her friends so that he can be with Ankita as much as possible. The duration he spent with Ankita was one of his happiest ones.
One night during a conversation, Aniket did something which Ankita was totally unaware of.
“Ankita” Aniket said “If you permit me, I want to say something. Can I ?”
“Yaa Ofcourse. You have my permission.
:-p :-)” Ankita said teasing Aniket.
“Listen” Aniket said “I know I’m exactly 2 months 22 hours and 50 minutes late.” he added “But, Miss Ankita Sharma, will you be my valentine for the rest of my life ?”.
